Railroad Applications

Secure and Weatherproof Enclosures for the Railroad Industry

Overview

With the increase in railroad and pedestrian accidents happening across the country, more and more monitoring systems and electronics are being placed near crossings, junctions and yards. Protect those expensive electronics in a secure outdoor enclosure designed to hold and protect any electrical elements.

For most railroad locations an NEMA 3R weatherproof enclosure will provide all the protection needed against weather hazards such as rain and sleet.

Components

NEMA 3 Rated Enclosures

NEMA 3R Rated Enclosures

ArmorLogix carries NEMA 3R rated outdoor enclosures in varying sizes. NEMA 3R Enclosures are weather-resistant; protecting against falling dirt and against weather hazards such as rain, sleet and snow, and is undamaged by the formation of ice. Used outdoors on ship docks, in construction work, and in tunnels and subways.

Adjustable Equipment Mounting Plate For PoE Switches, Modems & More

Adjustable Equipment Mounting Plate

The adjustable equipment mounting plate is just that - an aluminum panel that can be adjusted via screws on the inside of the box to accommodate wires, increased air circulation, and more. Items such as network PoE switches, fiber modems and recorders can be mounted to this plate using a variety of methods.

ArmorLogix Enclosures Come Standard with Proprietary Security Lock

Security Lock

A proprietary lock and key come standard with each enclosure. You have the option to either use our tamper-proof lock or switch it out with your own lock and key.

Sunshield

Sun Shield

The sun shield sounds simple enough but actually does several jobs simultaneously. First, it allows for an additional layer of protection and insulation against extreme temperatures as well as providing a channel for air circulation. Secondly, the shade itself prevents both the scorching sun or the rain from falling directly upon the seam of the door.

Mounting an Outdoor Weatherproof Enclosure

Mounting Options

Universal Mounting Bracket: The universal mounting bracket comes as a set and is attached first to the back of the weatherproof box (lower holes), then mounted to a flat surface, such as a wall (upper holes). For instructions on how to mount enclosures using the Universal Mounting Bracket, refer to this Universal Mounting Bracket Diagram (PDF).

Pole Bracket: The pole bracket attaches to the enclosure via carriage screws, then to a pole (at least 3" in diameter) using bands. For instructions on how to mount enclosures using the Pole Bracket, refer to this Pole Bracket Mounting Diagram

AP24 Wireless Access Point

Wireless Access Points

The AP24 is perfectly suited to be installed in outdoor environments and exposed locations. With an external casing rate of IP55 it is hardy and can withstand rigorous weather conditions such as heavy rain and wind.

Place your transmitter and receiver up to 1.5 miles apart in distance, paired with a booster and encryption, and prepare to be able to remotely monitor the jobsite from the comfort of your office!

Fiber Modems

Fiber Modems

ArmorLogix Fiber Modems can be used to transmit video (BNC) up to 2 miles and are very popular for long distance runs. Fiber modems eliminate video interference when running from building to building with varying ground potentials. Fiber optic modems are also a great alternative to Coax for sites that are prone to lightning and electrical surges.

Cooling Electronics in an Outdoor NEMA Rated Enclosure

Case Fan & Thermostat for NEMA 3R Enclosures

All electronics need to be able to "breathe" or they will overheat quickly and always at the worst possible moment. Install a case fan and thermostat to aid in temperature control when using a NEMA 3R Outdoor Enclosures to amplify and maximize air circulation and heat expulsion. Download this PDF for more information on air flow in a NEMA 3 Enclosure.
